We are convening a diverse group of anchor institutions, both public and private, representing some of the largest employers in the region across medicine, education, the arts, and culture.
From Memorial Sloan Kettering to major universities like Fordham and Columbia, and cultural centers like the Wildlife Conservation Society and the New York Philharmonic, and public institutions like CUNY and NYCEDC, New York City is home to a range of tremendous local assets. Major institutions have the economic power to inject dollars into their local communities and spur economic development.

Representatives of Bronx Anchor Institutions, government, local business leaders and JP Morgan Chase joined Dr. Thomas A. Isekenegbe, President of Bronx Community College, Dr. David Gomez, President of Hostos Community College, Magalie Desroches Austin, Senior Advisory, NYC Mayor's Office of Minority and Women Business Enterprise for the launch of the Ascend NYC Bronx Anchor Council.
The mission of Ascend New York and its regional partners Ascend Long Island and Ascend Newark, is to support the economic development of underserved communities by helping entrepreneurs win contracts from larger companies and provide essential training and mentoring.
This is accomplished through Partnership Advisory Councils consisting of major corporations, anchor institutions, and government agencies serving those communities.
Together with our regional partners, we continue to grow the networks that will have a lasting impact in the communities that need it most.
